Reservoir Fungal Nail Laser Treatment will have you back in open toe heels in no time.
Nail fungus is a common condition that begins as a slight discoloration under the tip of your toenail. As the fungal infection worsens, nail fungus may cause your nail to thicken or become brittle and painful.
Nail fungus is also called onychomycosis – It currently affects roughly 10-15% of the population
If your condition is mild and not bothering you, you may not need treatment. If your nail fungus is painful and has caused thickened nails, self-care steps and medications may help. Nail Fungus is persistent, but can be best managed with good personal hygiene and good care of your nails.
Fungal nail can be difficult to treat, so early interception and professional advice is most certainly the best course of action.
Our Reservoir based teams of podiatrists are highly trained laser technicians. Our Fungal Nail Laser treatment penetrates the nail and generates heat at the site, to fight and combat the infection. It is important to note that there are no living cells in nails and as such the nail has no capacity to be able to fight the infection.
Fungal Nail laser Treatment is pain free, however the treatment requires patience as the infection on nail grows out, usually over a period of 6-12 months.
For most infections you will require 2-3 treatments to treat the condition. A follow up appointment is recommended to ensure there’s no further infection.
Treatment will begin with one of our highly experienced podiatrists taking a history, assessment and then recommendations specific to your case.
Depending on the severity and or history of the nail infection, our podiatrists will typically recommend laser treatment.
The laser treatment is noninvasive and works by a simple mechanism. It is administered by a small, laser pen device that glides across the nail. This device shines an infrared beam, which provides direct heat to the site of the infection.
